How did you get into the beauty industry?

I started in the industry after completing my BTEC ND in Beauty Therapy. My initial inspiration for the industry came when I attended a large beauty event at a department store with my Mum when I was 14. I was hooked from then in aromatherapy and treatments. 

What advice would you give to people who are thinking about getting started in the beauty industry?

Anyone coming into the industry, I would say be eager to learn and develop. Ask others for advice and feedback. I have been in the industry for over 25 years, and I’m still learning every day. It’s a journey! 

What would you say is your proudest moment or event in your professional life?

My proudest moment was seeing our industry reopen following COVID, and navigating my team through the same journey. We opened a new training centre in Manchester in August 2021 which has been our central hub of training since. 

What are your hopes for Habia in the next 5 years? 

For HABIA I am excited to see how we can support making education a key support to recruitment and developing the therapists of the future. Driving our industry as a robust professional and ever evolving sector.
